NORMAN — Ellen Usry has been awarded the Nancy Chess Award by the Norman Sooner Rotary Club in recognition for her participation in club and community activities.
The award is giving annually by the Sooner Rotary Club in memory of Sooner Rotarian Nancy Chess, who exemplified service to individuals and to the community.
Usry and her husband, Bob, also a Sooner Rotarian, are key players in the district-wideRotary Youth Leadership Award camp hosted each June for high school juniors and seniors.
A former chair of the Cleveland County Citizens Advisory Board, she remains active in fundraising for CAB and assists with the Secret Santa Program for foster children in Cleveland County.
Sooner Rotary Club supports the Secret Santa program by sponsoring about 100 children in foster care with gifts and a Christmas party. Usry also has served as chair of the Health for Friends board.
Employed in the city of Norman clerk’s office, she has 19 years of perfect attendance in Sooner Rotary.
