NORMAN — A sold-out crowd came together at Benvenuti’s Ristorante to raise funds and awareness about hunger and homelessness in Norman.

The seventh annual event, benefiting Food and Shelter, a United Way-funded agency, is one of the organization’s most critical events, with all proceeds going directly into programs and services for the hungry and homeless.

“Though the event did not have a program to deliver our message directly, the conversation throughout the restaurant was focused on the mission ahead of us; what can we do in Norman to end homelessness?” said April Doshier, executive director of Food and Shelter.

Joining host Benvenuti’s Ristorante, A Night at Benvenuti’s, was sponsored by several local individuals and businesses, including Dental Design Studios, Gretchen Nicholson Law Office, Courtney and Amy Brackin, Arvest Bank, Corkscrew Wine and Spirits, First Fidelity Bank, OK WeatherPro, Physical Therapy Central, Physicians and Surgeons Pharmacy, Republic Bank & Trust, Robert and Sarah Haupt, The GreenHouse, The Spirit Shop and Therapy in Motion.

Food and Shelter has been serving individuals and families who are homeless since 1983.
