Firefighter fundraiser set

NORMAN — Music, hot dogs, hamburgers, face painting, bouncy houses and a dunk tank are set for fun in Noble from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Noble Fire Department, 119 N. 2nd St.

The family event will offer food and fun for the entire family, as well as the opportunity to climb on a fire truck and view other equipment.

Hamburger and hot dog plates will be served along with snow cones and cotton candy at the Noble Fire Department’s second annual firefighter fundraiser to benefit the department. Tickets will be on sale for $1 each to provide access to food and activities such as a dunk tank, bouncy toys, face painting and music.

Hands-on fire equipment displays will offer children the opportunity to handle and wear real firefighter gear and have their pictures taken. A fire truck will be available for children and adults to climb in. Firefighters plan to have a hose set up, as well.

Proceeds will be used for, but not limited to, providing firefighter Personal Protection Equipment, station upkeep and fire apparatus equipment upgrades. Donations are welcome and are tax deductible.

Volunteer firefighter Jarrid Matlock said the Noble Fire Department is comprised of full-time and part-time volunteer firefighters. Some of the part-time firefighters have moved into full-time positions as availability presents, so there’s always a need for new equipment and gear.

The Noble Fire Department thanked Thad Driever of C.M.K. Amusements and the Hampton-Noble Masonic Lodge No. 291 for being dedicated supporters of the department and its mission to provide outstanding fire protection, emergency medical services, fire prevention, public education and fire and emergency medical training to the community.

“They’ve always been very supportive of the fire department. Hopefully this year the weather will cooperate and we’ll have more folks participating,” Matlock said.
