NORMAN — Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity recently received a donation of $7,000 from Priefert Manufacturing Co. of Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

Priefert employee Archie Hayley felt led to help Moore residents who were affected by the May 20 tornado. With the cooperation of management, the 700 employees of Priefert agreed to a one-time payroll deduction. Hayley thought if each employee would give $5 each, they could collect a few thousand dollars. The employees responded with open hearts and open wallets and raised $10,000.

Hayley made the trip to Oklahoma to deliver checks to the recipients and meet with the agencies they were donating to.

“This donation will help Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity with our rebuilding efforts in the Moore area,” said Linda Banta, Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity executive director. “We feel truly blessed to have received a large portion of the donation from Priefert Manufacturing Co. employees. It was very important to them to make a human connection and be assured that their contribution would be spent wisely.”

At this time Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity is actively seeking families affected by the tornados who may have been uninsured, under-insured or possibly a renter who lost their home.

“We are in search of the families we can help rebuild and residential lots in the affected Moore area to build on,” Banta said.
