Thunderbird Clubhouse honors two Norman businessmen

NORMAN — Two Norman businessmen were honored by Thunderbird Clubhouse at a board of directors meeting Wednesday afternoon.

Chad Achord, owner of Raising Canes Norman LLC, and Tonny Walden, of Walden’s Cleaners, received awards from the clubhouse.

Achord received the Volunteer of the Year Award for his support of clubhouse events. Besides providing meals for events, he and his staff have supported the employment program by hiring Clubhouse members at Raising Canes.

Walden received the Spirit of Clubhouse award for hiring a number of Clubhouse members to work at the cleaners plant on Highland Parkway.

Thunderbird, a working community, serves adults recovering from mental illness. Members are essential in the organization’s operation.

Directors and officers include Kathryn Walker, president; Kelly Collyar, vice president; Ryan Clark, treasurer; and Lisa Raiber, secretary. Board members include Jana Atkins, Elizabeth Base, Bobbe Feher-Nist, Kris Glenn, Shawn Hawkins, Tera Riley, Glenda Thomas, Emily Virgin, Christi Wilson and Laura Stone.
