NORMAN — Norman families can add a new location to their local summer destinations.
Andy Alligator’s Water Park, at 3300 Market Place Drive celebrated its first day of operations Saturday, in spite of weather being less than ideal.
“The turnout wasn’t awful by any means, but it wasn’t quite what we hoped for,” said the park’s director of operations Cliff Bristow.
Overcast skies and cooler temperatures made outdoor water park activites somewhat less desirable for the bigger crowds, but Bristow said the smaller numbers made for a smoother transition for park staff.
Though Saturday’s numbers may have been down, enthusiasm and interest in the park indicate a busy summer ahead.
“We’ve had lots of inquiries, and people seem especially excited about the park as a venue for birthday parties,” Bristow said.
Rather than charge admission by age, the park’s admission is determined by height, and a discount is offered for Seniors and military personnell. Children 2 and under are free.
Dual park passes are also available for those who would like to visit both the water park and adjacent Andy Alligator Fun Park.
“People seem very enthusiastic, and we expect a great summer,” Bristow said.
