NORMAN — Dr. Katherine Scheirman will be the featured speaker at the Tyner Cornbread and Beans luncheon Friday. She will speak on “More Improvements Needed in our National Health System.”
Scheirman retired after 20 years serving the U.S. Air Force medical system. At her retirement, she was chief of medical operation for the Air Force in Europe. She gained first-hand knowledge of the German health care system and has knowledge of the United States, Japanese and English systems.
Scheirman is the Oklahoma state director of Doctors for America, a grassroots physician organization working for health care reform. She is an advocate for veteran and military issues and is vice chairman of the board of directors of the Lupus Foundation of America, Oklahoma chapter. She is a teaching fellow for the American College of Physician Executives.
The luncheon will be at Catering Creations, 3750 W. Main St., and is sponsored by the Cleveland County Democratic Party. Lunch begins at 11:15 a.m. with the speaker beginning about noon. Guests will select lunch from the mini-buffet. The meeting is open to the public.
