NORMAN — Dr. Joseph Siano, superintendent of Norman Public Schools, will be the speaker at the Tyner Cornbread and Beans luncheon Sept. 6. As guest speaker, Siano will discuss the current status of Norman Public Schools.
The event will be at Catering Creations, 3750 W. Main St.
The luncheon is sponsored by the Cleveland County Democratic Party and begins at 11:15 a.m. Siano will begin speaking at about noon. Guests can select lunch from a mini buffet provided by Catering Creations. The meeting is open to the public.
Siano became superintendent of Norman Public Schools in August 2000. He took this position after serving as assistant superintendent for Oklahoma City Public Schools.
He has a Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma City University as well as a master’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma.
Siano has received numerous awards and honors, including being named the 2010 Administrator of the Year by the Oklahoma Association of School Administrators, District 7. He served as president of the association for the 2012-2013 school year.
