NORMAN — The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History will offer complimentary admission to all grandparents Sept. 8, in honor of National Grandparents Day.
Celebrated every year on the first Sunday after Labor Day, Grandparents Day was established by President Jimmy Carter in 1978.
Sept. 8 also will be the final day to enjoy the exhibits “Beautiful Beasts: The Unseen Life of Oklahoma Spiders and Insects,” featuring photographs of Oklahoma’s smallest creatures, and “Bob Kuhn: Drawing on Instinct,” displaying sketches and paintings of the world’s animals.
The museum’s Discovery Room will feature activities, stories and objects all about chickens during Grandparents Day.
Also on Grandparents Day, the museum will offer grandparents family memberships at a discounted cost of $35 from $45. Membership to the museum provides complimentary admission for two adults and children in the family under the age of 18.
Additionally, grandparents receive Tracks, the museum newsletter, discounts in Excavations, the museum store, and on education programs and birthday parties.
The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History is on the University of Oklahoma Norman campus at Timberdell Road and Chautauqua Avenue.
Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors 65 and up, and $3 for youth ages 6 to 17. Children ages 5 and under are admitted free. Discounts are available for military personnel and their immediate families.
