Moore patients, employees accounted for

MOORE — Patients and staff inside the seriously damaged Moore Medical Center were all accounted for, hospital officials said late Monday.

Norman Regional Health System, which operates the Moore facility, said 30 patients were transferred to the hospital’s Porter Avenue campus or the Healthplex at I-35 and Tecumseh Road.

The hospital on 4th Street in Moore took a direct hit from the tornado Monday afternoon. The hospital’s Healthplex has been inundated with patients, including a 9-year-old girl whose parents were missing.

Kaileigh Hawkins, 9, was at one of the elementary schools. She was later reconnected with her father. The hospital also is attempting to connect patients with family members. The patient care hotline is 307-1366.

In Moore, the hospital parking lot had dozens of damaged cars. Security guards were keeping bystanders away from the damaged building. A triage unit for medical treatment was set up next door in the Warren Theater parking lot.

In Oklahoma City, OU Medical Center has received 20 patients of various ages, including 12 adults and eight children in trauma rooms at OU Medical Center and the nearby Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center. Injuries range from minor to critical conditions.

All available personnel are on duty to provide patient care, and OU Medical Center Edmond is poised to receive additional patients if necessary.
