NORMAN — A Norman homeowner and his family reported a fire Monday evening at 309 Waterfront Drive after after seeing smoke billowing from the house.
Officials arrived at the scene at 6:41 p.m. The cause of the fire has not been determined, and no preliminary monetary damage estimate was available by press time. The Norman fire marshall is investigating.
Deputy Fire Chief Jim Bailey said the kitchen, dining room and part of the living room were damaged.
Two police officers, three fire trucks, 13 firefighters and one EMS responded to the fire. Nobody was home during the incident and no one sustained injuries. However, five cats died in the fire.
The homeowner said he had been gone for several hours when he came home to smoke and neighbors gathered outside his residence.
