NORMAN — Longtime Norman resident Becky Switzer was one of four Oklahomans honored Thursday night at the Astec Charter Schools inaugural Door-Opener Awards Gala.
The event was hosted at the Petroleum Club in downtown Oklahoma City. It recognizes individuals who have helped others achieve their dreams and is named for Astec Inc. founder and CEO Dr. Freda Deskin.
Switzer, president of Switzer Talent Agency and owner of Trapeze LLC, was recognized along with Pete Delaney, chairman and CEO of OGE Energy Corp., Mary Melon, president and publisher of The Journal Record, and Bill Anoatubby, Chickasaw Nation governor.
She coached women’s gymnastics at the University of Oklahoma for 18 years.
Additionally, she coached internationally in Beijing, in the Netherlands and at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis. She is involved in many Oklahoma nonprofits and government agencies.
Switzer and her husband, Barry, were recently named Oklahoma Living Treasures by the Oklahoma Health Center Foundation.
