NORMAN — The Joseph K. Lester Foundation and the Second Chance Access Program for Women (S-CAP) will host their first-ever golf tournament Monday at the Trail Golf Club.
Proceeds will assist women and their children who are participants of S-CAP.
S-CAP for Women assists justice-involved women and mothers from returning to jail by providing 24/7 navigating, advocating and educating services.
The S-CAP program is successful in keeping Cleveland County women with non-violent charges from returning to jail after their first arrest.
Beth Jones, senior navigator at S-CAP, said, “The majority of these women once coming out of jail have lost their homes, their jobs, children, lost support of their family, transportation to get to court and a job to pay their fees.
“The impact on their children is horrible and can cause severe separation concerns. They need a navigator to assist them during this time until they can find stability for them and their children.”
S-CAP navigators advocate, navigate and educate for these women through the justice system, the community resource system and the employment system.
