Free prostate cancer screening
Prostate cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in men, and the disease is relatively simple to detect during its early stages. In an effort to promote the health of our community, Norman Regional Health System is offering free prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood screenings to men ages 50 and older and men with a family history of the disease.

Tickets for United Way Celebrity Sing available
The faces of Norman will sing and dance for charity at Celebrity Sing, hosted by United Way of Norman, at the Riverwind Casino on Nov. 13. "Here you can see people that you see everyday in their official capacity singing and dancing and doing it really well," said Mark Krittenbrink, Krittenbrink Architecture, co-chairman of the committing coordinating Celebrity Sing.

Bond funds would pay for road replacement, outdoor warning system
If everything goes according to plan, the citizens of Norman will be voting on a pair of general obligation bond proposals in March 2010 worth more than $20 million combined. The bulk of that will come from a $19 million renewal bond that will continue a street maintenance program started in 2005.

Middle school students can apply now for Sam Noble Museum's summer field programs
Oklahoma middle school students interested in science can apply now for a summer field program offered by the Sam Noble Museum at the University of Oklahoma. Oklahoma Science Adventure is a one-week residential program that will give students hands-on experience working with museum scientists and in real field settings.

Emergency departments set record numbers
Emergency departments at Norman Regional Hospital and Moore Medical Center set patient records in October. Norman Regional Health System Medical Director of Emergency Services Dr. Robby Frantz said 6,829 patients were treated at the Norman Regional Hospital emergency department in October.
