Transcript Staff

A project widening five miles of Interstate 35 in Norman is scheduled for consideration at Monday's Oklahoma Transportation Commission meeting.

Commissioners meet at 11 a.m. in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, 200 NE 21st in Oklahoma City.

The I-35 work adds a lane in each direction between US-77 and Robinson Street. The $41.3 million project will include lighting and improved median barriers. A special letting was held for the item, which will be the only construction project under consideration at the meeting.

Transportation planners hope eventually to widen the interstate to the Canadian River.

Two national awards will be presented at the meeting. ODOT recently won two national "Excellence in Concrete Pavement" awards for work done on highways in Payne and Carter counties.

The meeting agenda can be viewed at www.okladot.state.ok.us using the Public Meetings link.
