The Norman Convention and Visitors Bureau will hold its sixth annual Super Sports Trivia Bowl Friday at Sooner Legends Inn and Suites.
To help offset the rising costs of recruiting and attaining sporting events, the NCVB holds a fundraiser each year where teams of six can register to test their sports trivia knowledge against other trivia buffs for trophies, prizes and bragging rights.
"Norman is competing directly with the larger cities and doing exceptionally well, and although it's an extremely aggressive market, the rewards are huge," said Sherri Rogers, executive director of the Norman Convention and Visitors Bureau.?
Sooner kicking legend Uwe von Schamann will once again be emcee.?
It is not too late to participate. Each team will compete through eight rounds of sports categories, each having 10 questions.? Teams registered also will have dinner catered by Sooner Legends. A silent auction also will take place.?
"We encourage you to bring your friends and join us for a great time, and an even greater cause. It's guaranteed to be a blast," Rogers said.?
The cost is $10 per spectator, $20 per spectator with dinner, $30 per person to play, $50 per couple to play, and $150 for a team of six, or $165 for a team of 6 including recognition in the event program. Those wanting to participate and/or have dinner must register no later than noon today. Dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m., and the games will begin at 7 p.m.?
The NCVB will host the 13-Under AAU Girls National Basketball Championship July 11-19, expected to bring about 4,000 people to town. Funds raised from previous years have helped the NCVB bring in sporting events including baseball, softball, golf, basketball, tennis and soccer.?
