The Great Decisions Discussion Series concludes at 6:30 p.m. Thursday In Room A/B at the Norman Public Library, 225 N. Webster Ave.
The discussion topic is Russia in 2008. During his two terms as president, Vladimir Putin has attempted to remake Russia into a major, independent world power. Some of his recent policies have provoked concern in the U.S. and Europe. With a 2008 Russian presidential election expected, what course will Russia take?
The program will be presented by Paul Goode, Ph.D., assistant professor, Department of Political Science, University of Oklahoma.
Through the discussion series hosted by the Norman public library, participants can meet, discuss issues, debate and arrive at an informed opinion on each topic. At the end of the program, each participant is invited to complete a national opinions survey, the results of which are presented to the White House, the Departments of State and Defense, members of Congress, and the national media.
To register to attend this discussion, stop by the Adult Information Desk at the library or call 701-2620. An optional Briefing Book which contains all the essays and reading material is available for purchase. The Great Decisions Program is sponsored locally by the Friends of the Norman Public Library.
