Commissioner Rod Cleveland was appointed as the District 5 representative for Cleveland County to the Circuit Engineering District at Monday’s meeting. The district is a cooperative multi-county organization to help in managing county improvements to roads and bridges and is part of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
Commissioners also will purchase police pursuit vehicles from the Kansas Highway Patrol. Although not the low bid, the cars were a year newer, had lower mileage and will come with a better warranty, said Brenda Wakeman, assistant purchasing agent.
Lt. Ed Miller reported that the Cleveland County Detention Center had 169 inmates, with 17 of those housed at other locations for the week of April 8 through 15. This was “the lowest count we’ve seen in a long time,” said Commission Chairman George Skinner.
Commissioners will meet again 9 a.m. Monday on the second floor of the County Office Building, 201 S. Jones Ave.
