A call from an attentive citizen led to the arrest Tuesday afternoon of a Norman man in the alleged theft of copper wire from behind a local home improvement store.
The Norman Police Department received a call at 4:30 p.m. from a man who said he had seen the suspect, later identified as Brian Lee Sanger, 33, cut several sections of copper wire from behind the Home Depot at 850 Ed Noble Parkway. The witness provided a description of the man and the vehicle he was driving, and a responding officer located Sanger near another business south of Home Depot, police said
A quantity of copper wire was recovered from the vehicle, and Sanger was booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center on complaints of larceny of copper, possession of burglary tools, obstructing an officer, driving under suspension and failure to carry insurance verification. A 37-year-old woman who was a passenger in Sanger's vehicle was interviewed and released, police said.
