Several killed in accidents

MADILL — Three people have died after an early morning collision between a tractor-trailer and a pickup on a Marshall County highway.

The accident happened about 6 a.m. Sunday about four miles west of Madill on U.S. Highway 70. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has identified those who died as 32-year-old Brian Journagan of Velma, 26-year-old Cory Patterson of Duncan and 25-year-old Guoqing Mei of Duncan.

Troopers say Journagan was driving an eastbound tractor-trailer and that Patterson’s westbound pickup was sliding in the lane for an unknown reason.

Authorities say Journagan swerved to the left and the tractor-trailer struck the pickup in the driver’s side door. All three people involved in the accident died at the scene.

• A Guthrie man died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with another vehicle on a Logan County highway.

The OHP said the accident that killed 43-year-old Christopher Cowden happened on State Highway 105 about 5:05 p.m. on Saturday.

Troopers say Cowden was riding his motorcycle westbound on the highway while a vehicle driven by 49-year-old John Vian of Oklahoma City was going eastbound.

Authorities say Cowden’s motorcycle hit Vian’s vehicle as Vian was turning north onto another road. The force of the impact ejected Cowden, who died at the scene.

Neither Vian nor a passenger in his vehicle were injured.

• A 49-year-old Lone Wolf man has died from injuries he sustained in a one-vehicle accident in Greer County.

The OHP said the accident that killed David Wayne Ketchersid happened about 12:10 a.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 283.

Troopers say Ketchersid’s pickup was northbound on the highway when it ran off the road for an unknown reason before hitting a culvert. The pickup then went airborne for 65 feet and rolled once, ejecting Ketchersid.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
