Several area students were among 73 Rose State College's nursing graduates receiving pins in a recent ceremony.

The record number of graduates is the result of a program created for Rose State with funding from the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

The program was created three years ago to meet a strong need for more nurses, according to program director Rebekah Ray.

Area graduates include Hanna Philemon, Helena Jackson and Kristen Ridley of Norman; Dana Foreman, Douglas Gibson and Adrienne McGruder of Moore; and Kristen Widner of Purcell
