Norman and Moore firefighters were busy Tuesday afternoon battling a grass fire near Interstate 35.
Norman Deputy Fire Chief Jim Bailey said the fire was reported 1:43 p.m. Tuesday at 6301 N. Interstate Drive. The blaze consumed about 2 1/2 land acres and about four round bales of hay.
The fire was located on the east side of Interstate 35 near Indian Hills Road.
Bailey said a hay baler may have sparked the fire. The baler sustained some fire damage.
He said two engine trucks, two brush units and a crew chief responded from Norman. The Moore Fire Department provided mutual aid.
Bailey said it took firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the fire.
