The Firehouse Art Center seeks artists to paint on the Adult Art Wall to be displayed during the Midsummer Nights' Fair Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, from 6 to 11p.m. both nights. The event will be at Lions Park, at the corner of Flood Avenue and Symmes Street, just north of the Firehouse Art Center at 444 S. Flood Ave. The Art Wall will stay on display throughout the year in Lions Park.
"This is an excellent opportunity for artists to have their work displayed in an outdoor installation. Their work will be seen by countless Norman residents and visitors," said Douglas Shaw Elder, Executive Director of the Firehouse Art Center.
Artists are encouraged to paint in their own unique personal style. Any adult artist who is interested in being a part of this project should contact the Firehouse Art Center at 329-4523 before July 1.
"This is the third year we have had the Adult Art Wall at the Midsummer Nights' Fair, and we expect this year's Art Wall to be better than ever," said Elder.
In addition to the Adult Art Wall, there is also a Children's Art Wall, in which children paint a panel of the wall. This Art Wall is also displayed throughout the year in Lions Park. Children can paint on the Art Wall on a first come, first served basis during the Midsummer Nights' Fair.
For additional information on the Midsummer Nights' Fair, contact Carla Chew at the Firehouse Art Center at 329-4523 or visit www.normanfirehouse.com.
