Cleveland County Commissioners finished their fiscal year by renewing contracts and appointments to various boards.

County Assessor Denise Heavner was appointed as the county's representative to the tax increment financing district at Monday's weekly meeting.

Commissioners approved a lease with Delage Landen Public Finance for a new digital wide format printer for the assessor's office for $497 pert month. This includes drums, toner and paper, Heavner said.

A yearly lease between the commissioners and the Oklahoma Department of Corrections for county road machinery and equipment revolving fund was approved. Other agreements with the commissioners office that were approved are SimplexGrinnell for fire alarm system monitoring for office building at $288 year; Eastern Oklahoma Youth Services in Woodward and Pittsburg counties for juvenile services at $23.25 per day per child; Alcohol and Drug Testing, Inc. for drug testing for all three districts; and Dittner services for line and leak detector testing for District 1 at $125 yearly.

Other yearly leases and services that were approved were the maintenance of two elevators at $244 per month between the sheriff's office and American Elevator Company Inc.; scales and mailing machines from Pitney Bowes for the county health department in Norman at $110 per month and $109 per month for the Moore office; interpreter services for the hearing impaired with TSHA at $45 -to $65; and copier maintenance services for the OSU Extension Office by Sooner Copy Machines.

Capt. Ed Miller of the Cleveland County Sheriff's office told commissioners book-in comparisons for the week of June 17-24 were up 25 percent. Book-ins in 2007 were 178. Two hundred and twenty-three prisoners were booked for the same week in 2008. He also said there was an average of 167 prisoners for the reporting week with 10 housed in Pottawatomie County and three housed at other places.

Commissioners accepted bids for carpeting and covebase for the new sheriff's headquarters at 108 N. Peters Ave. and a double drum vibratory compactor for District 3. They may award the bids at a later date.

They did award a bid to Howard/McAnear Equipment Co. for a self-propelled rotary broom for District 3.

A special meeting of the county commissioners is 9 a.m. Tuesday. The meeting of the Cleveland County Justice Authority scheduled for June 30 has been postponed until 10 a.m. Monday. Both meetings will be held at the County Office Building, 201 S. Jones Ave., second floor.
