An Oklahoma City man drowned late Thursday or early Friday near the Hog Creek boat ramp at Lake Thunderbird.

The victim was identified as Johnny Ray Montoya, 36, an Hispanic Oklahoma City resident.

According to Highway Patrol Trooper Daniel Proctor, Montoya went into the lake sometime between 11:30 p.m. Thursday and 9:45 a.m. Friday. His body was recovered at 3:35 p.m. Friday, in eight and a half feet of water.

The drowning was investigated by Proctor of Troop W, assisted by Lt. Kurt McKean, Lt. Wayne Skrdla and Trooper David Lynch of Troop W.
