· City prepared to celebrate

Hot dog -- it's the Fourth of July and time for the Norman Day Celebration.
And it will be a dog day, with the Hot Dog Eating Championship and the Ugliest Dog contest.
Norman Recreation Superintendent Jeff Hill said everything is in place for the festivities at Reaves Park, Constitution Street and Jenkins Avenue.
The schedule of events is:
· 10 a.m. -- Sand Volleyball Tournament. Spectators are welcome for the tourney.
·?Noon -- food vendors start serving on the south side of the park. Guesses on the Money Count Jar also start at noon, with it awarded at 8 p.m. to the person whose guess is closest.
· 1 p.m. -- Moon Bounce
· Hot Dog Eating Championship, 2 to 7 p.m. Participants pay $3 to eat five hot dogs and post their time. There will be trophies for men's and women's division winners and a cash prize.
· Arm wrestling, 2:15 p.m.
· Nickel find, 2:30 p.m.
· And It's gonna get ugly at 4 p.m., with the Ugliest Dog Contest.
· Music, 5 p.m., with Maylee Thomas and Annie Up.
· The Baby Crawl, 5:30 p.m.
· Kiwanis Club members pass out free watermelon at 6 p.m.
Food vendors include Dippin' Dots Ice Cream, JR's Family Bar-B-Q serving up chopped brisket or pulled pork sandwiches and hot link sandwiches. B-Max Concessions will have funnel cakes, corndogs, nachos, fries, cheese frees and fried cheese-on-a-stick.
Norman Sooner Lions Club will have corndogs, hot dogs, nachos and barbecue. And the Kiwanis Club will have snow cones and drinks.
Fireworks light up the night at 9:45 p.m., with an about 30-minute light spectacular by Western Enterprises.
Hill said it takes about 100 people from the City of Norman's Parks and Recreation Department, police and fire departments and EMSStat.
He said the City employees enjoy being at work and being around the festivities at the same time.
