MOORE -- The Moore library has added an outreach and special projects librarian, officials with the organization announced this week.

Tera McAmis, an Oklahoma native, officially began her new duties June 16 and "will be a vital connection and representative for the library with various community organizations, businesses, and schools," library manager Lisa Wells said.

McAmis joins Pioneer's OutReach Services team and will concentrate in the Moore Library service area and north Cleveland County.

"Tera's passion for working with people, her enthusiasm for building partnerships and better communities, and her fundamental values concerning library services make her the ideal choice for this exciting new position," said Lisa Wells, branch manager. "Tera has wonderful ideas, lots of energy and drive, and a background in community experience to bring to the outreach position."

McAmis holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of Oklahoma. She is working toward a master's degree, as well as obtaining an Advanced Management Certification in Independent Centers at the same time.

Previously McAmis has served as the service coordinator for United Cerebral Palsy of Oklahoma. She started work as the assistant director of library services for Moore County in Dumas, Texas. In May, she earned her master's degree in library science from the University of North Texas.

McAmis said she had a passion for social services.

"The OutReach position is people-oriented and full of variety and challenge. Since libraries are the cornerstone in local communities, I look forward to sharing Moore Public Library's services in an official liaison capacity. My focus is on boosting the library's involvement in community events," she said.

By representing the library with the Old Town Merchant Association, Moore Chamber of Commerce, McAmis said she hoped to assist in increasing community services and benefiting the library's service area.

McAmis lives Norman with her dog, Sage. She is an enthusiastic "green" advocate, who believes in recycling and sharing materials.
