Cleveland County commissioners awarded a bid to Warren Cat for a 2006 Caterpillar double drum vibratory compactor during Monday's regular meeting. Although it was not the low bid, Rusty Sullivan, district 3 commissioner said "it was the best overall bid."
"It was the best year and model and I've had experience with this roller and this company," Sullivan said.
The bid amount was $113,900 with a 36-month or 3,000 hour warranty.
District 1 Commissioner Rod Cleveland and District Attorney Dave Batton were absent from Monday's meeting. First Assistant District Attorney David Brockman sat in for Batton.
Commissioners tabled a contract with Sharon Harrell for public relations services with the Fair Board. Sullivan had asked Batton to look at the contract and give his opinion before they voted.
After the meeting, Sullivan said he has not seen the contract and just wants to know what is in it before he votes on it.
A copier maintenance agreement between Sooner Copy Machines and the sheriff's office was approved and Billijo Ragland was appointed as an alternate requesting officer for the assessor's office. Commissioners also approved an interlocal agreement with Oklahoma City and approved the June 2008 monthly reports of Rhonda Hall, court clerk and Holyfield, sheriff cash bond.
Capt. Ed Miller told commissioners there were an average of 184 inmates in the detention center the week of July 1-8. Thirteen of those were housed at Pottawatomie County and one at another facility. Book-ins for the same week in 2007 were nine more than 2008 with 201 booked.
