A new director of secondary education for Norman Public Schools could be hired Monday night as the Norman Public Schools Board of Education meets 7 p.m. at the Curriculum Center, 131 S. Flood Ave.
According to the agenda, board members could vote to go into executive session to consider hiring a person for the post and a principal for Whittier Middle School. After the board returns from closed session, they may take a vote on both matters.
Dr. Roger Brown was the director of secondary education until June 30. At a special board meeting that day, members unanimously voted to promote Brown to the assistant superintendent of administrative services.
Brown filled a spot left vacant when Dr. Richard Schiller retired from the job at the end of June.
Also during the proposed executive session, board members may discuss current negotiations with the Professional Educators of Norman and Support Personnel Association of Norman. No vote will be taken on either subject, the agenda stated.
The board will consider bids and could award construction contracts for sprinkler repairs at Alcott Middle School, portico repair at Longfellow Middle School and air conditioning in physical education gymnasiums at Norman High School and Norman North High School.
