OKLAHOMA CITY — A Norman developer who pleaded no contest to funneling excessive campaign contributions to Oklahoma County Commissioner Brent Rinehart has been arrested after a fatal traffic accident in the southeast part of the city.
Jerl Methvin, 50, was booked into the Oklahoma County jail Monday night on complaints of manslaughter, drunken driving and reckless driving, police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.
Police reports say Methvin was allegedly traveling at a speed of more than 100 mph on a rural road when his car missed a curve and struck a utility pole.
The accident killed a passenger, Candy Dubiel, age 37.
Following his no contest plea in the campaign contribution case, Methvin was given a six-month deferred sentence and agreed to testify in the criminal case against Rinehart.
Methvin was charged in April 2007 with one count of making a contribution to a political candidate in excess of $5,000.
