NEW: OU flier poster gets two-year deferred sentence

Robert Lien Anderson, 38, pleaded guilty to a charge of disturbing the peace in court today for posting fliers around the University of Oklahoma campus threatening the overthrow of the university.

He was given a two-year deferred sentence, ordered to pay a $100 fine and required to stay off the OU Norman campus.

The charge was originally a felony, advocating unlawfulness on school grounds, which would have carried a two to 10 year sentence. But it was dropped to a misdemeanor today in the plea agreement.

Anderson said he never intended to advocated a violent overthrow of the university.

“I didn’t intend violence, I intended the university to just magically stop and then we’d take over,” he said Wednesday morning after his sentencing.

Anderson attended his sentencing in a red, white and blue striped polo shirt tucked into jeans. He approached the bench with his head down and eyes deferred. His parents were with him in court.

On March 7, Anderson posted fliers around campus, saying “all operations at OU Norman will cease” April 21.

“As of this date, the free university known as the Happy Nihilist University will begin ...”
