One of the six airmen who died when their B-52 crashed off the coast of Guam Monday was a former Norman resident.
Maj. Brent D. Williams, an instructor navigator, was a 1994 business graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where he participated in Air Force ROTC and majored in management information systems, said Catherine Bishop, OU vice president of public affairs.
He graduated from Norman High School in 1989. His mother, Sharon Williams, now lives in Midwest City.
The B-52H Stratofortress was on a training mission when it crashed, the Air Force said in news reports.
It was scheduled to fly over crowds celebrating Liberation Day, which commemorates the U.S. capture of Guam from Japan in 1944, the Air Force said.
