Transcript Staff

Two Norman elementary school girls recently won first place overall in the 2008 Dance Showcase U.S.A. National Competition.

Macy McKown, 8, daughter of Vernon and Ronda McKown, and Emma Plusquellec, 9, daughter of Dr. Paul and Kirsten Plusquellec, qualified for the national dance competition after achieving top tap duet with their routine "Kool Kitty" in the regional competition held in Oklahoma City.

Rockie Dunn Massay of Massay Dance Star Dance Studio in Norman taught and choreographed the routine, and Macy and Emma danced into first with it.

They competed with all the other duets and trios dancing jazz, tap, ballet and hip hop in the national competition held in Arlington, Texas, and came back to Norman as dance stars.

Macy and Emma won several trophies, ribbons and a cash scholarship.
