Norman police arrested a man early Tuesday, following a robbery at the Hampton Inn Hotel, 309 Norman Center Court. Police said the man is a suspect in the robberies of several Oklahoma City-area hotels in the past week.
Jeffery Massie was arrested after Norman police responded to the robbery call at 11:45 p.m. Monday.
A Norman officer saw a red Jeep traveling northbound on Interstate 35 that matched the description of the vehicle used in previous hotel robberies. The officer followed, waiting until he got backup assistance from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Moore police. After pulling over Massie, police said he matched the robber's physical description and had a ski mask, gun and money bag matching the one taken from the hotel.
Police said Massie, during questioning at the Norman Police Department, confessed to Monday's robbery of the Hampton Inn and two other robberies in the metro area.
Besides the Hampton Inn, three hotels in Oklahoma City and one in Edmond were robbed last week, police said.
In the Aug. 14 robbery of the Hampton Inn, police said two males, one armed with a large knife, entered the hotel and demanded money from the clerk before fleeing on foot. There have been no other arrests.
