McClain County crash lands two in hospital

By Meghan McCormick

An Ada woman was critically injured in a one-vehicle rollover crash Wednesday night in McClain County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the wreck happened at 7:23 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of State Highway 59B and 160th Avenue.

The OHP reported Michael William Swanson, 27, of Edmond was driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am northbound and failed to negotiate a curve. The Grand Am went off the roadway into a pasture and rolled, ejecting a passenger, Angela Diane Hamilton, 28, of Ada.

Hamilton was pinned underneath the wreckage for about 20 minutes. She was transported by Medi Flight to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Hamilton was admitted with head, trunk, internal, external, arm and leg injuries, according to OHP. She was listed in critical condition.

Thursday afternoon, OU Medical Center marketing director Dennis Gimmel, said there had been no change in Hamilton's condition.

Swanson was transported by Lindsay EMS to Norman Regional Hospital with internal trunk injuries. He was listed in stable condition, according to the OHP.

Heather Glenn, Norman Regional Hospital public information officer, said Swanson was later released from the hospital.

The Highway Patrol said seat belts were not in use by either Swanson or Hamilton. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
