OU student athlete Blake Griffin was cited for outraging public decency early Thursday near campus after allegedly urinating on some parking lot bushes.
Norman police officer Barry Grippen issued the citation for Griffin who was released. The 19-year-old basketball player was ticketed in the 700 block of Colleve Avenue at 12:51 a.m. Thursday.
According to Section 15-411 of the Norman Municipal Code, outraging public decency is defined as “an act which openly outrages public decency, including, but not limited to, urinating or defecating” in public.
Griffin, according to the citation, was observed by Officer Grippen urinating on the east side of a parking lot at 701 College Avenue. The police officer was on foot patrol in the area.
Griffin, according to the citation, admitted urinating on the bushes but said he was waiting for a friend and could not leave the area to find a bathroom. He was initiatlly uncooperative and didn’t want to sign the ticket but later cooperated, the officer said.
