Norman man arrested after car-bike hit and run

Transcript Staff

A Norman man, James Kevin Bullard, 20, was charged Monday with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating liquor, after he allegedly struck a bicyclist and fled the scene of the accident.

Police said the bicyclist was hit by a 2007 Nissan Altima at Brooks Street and Chautauqua Avenue at 10:43 p.m. Saturday and sustained a concussion and a contusion to the head.

A witness followed Bullard to a residence on Westbrooke Terrace, where Bullard was arrested by police. He had an open bottle of vodka on the floorboard and tested .20 and .21 blood alcohol content, police said.

Also Monday, Steven Anthony Smith, 31, Norman, was charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon, after police said he struck his girlfriend with a sword, cutting her arm.

Smith was arrested at an apartment on Oaktree Avenue at 9:15 p.m. Saturday. His girlfriend reportedly had a cut on her arm and a red mark on her back, where she'd been hit by Smith, police said.

Other felonies filed recently include:

· Anthony Leon Easley II, 28, Oklahoma City, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol;

· Joshua David Askins, 28, Moore, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; attempting to elude while endangering others;

· Carole Bernice Park, 43, Oklahoma City, unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous drug;

· Rebecca Angela Hicks, 18, Oklahoma City, unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous drug.
