Natural history museum open holiday weekend

The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History will be open through the Labor Day weekend, including Monday.

Holiday weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Labor Day.?

Museum admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors (ages 65 and over), $3 for youth ages 6 to 17, and free for children ages 5 and under. Admission is free to University of Oklahoma students with student I.D.

Candlelight vigil to call for end of war in Iraq

Members of MoveOn.org Political Action in Norman will hold two candlelight vigils today to call on Congress to vote to end the war in September.

The first will be 8 p.m. at the North Oval on the University of Oklahoma campus. The second will be 8:30 p.m. at the corner of Flood Avenue and Boyd Street.

Participants in the vigil will read from a "War Toll Calendar" to honor and remember the soldiers that have died in the past year in the war in Iraq.

Vigils like this one are part of national Take A Stand Day -- a coordinated day of action to end the war initiated by the Americans Against Escalation in Iraq coalition, including MoveOn.org Political Action, VoteVets.org, the Service Employees International Union, True Majority and others.
