Editors and reporters seized on Norman's ranking as the sixth best small city in America in this year's publication. We feature six people, six places, six institutions and six events.
The six people are Don Adkins, Jennifer Heavner Baker, Kathey Drummond, Steve Owens, Chuck Thompson and Ellen Usry. The six places are the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History, the Sooner Theatre, Lake Thunderbird State Park, the Firehouse Arts Center, the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and Norman's Legacy Trail.
Six institutions to watch are the National Weather Center, Southwest Nanotechnologies (SWeNT), Norman Regional Hospital System's Healthplex on Tecumseh Road, the Post Office's National Center for Employee Development, the Crucible foundry and the J.D. McCarty Center.
Six events spotlighted are the Chocolate Festival, the May Fair, '89er Day, Medieval Fair, Sooner football on game day and Jazz in June.
