A 25-year-old Norman man was shot in the face early Sunday during a fight at a Halloween party in central Norman, according to police.
Police responded to a report of a shooting to the 700 block of Tiffin Avenue around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, according to police reports.
Witnesses told the responding officers that someone involved in a fight at the party had fired several rounds from a handgun, striking the victim in the face, according to the reports.
The victim, Oscar Perez, also known as Oscar Perez-Perdomo, 25, of Norman, was transported in a private vehicle to the Norman Regional Hospital Emergency Department, where he was stabilized for injuries from a gunshot wound to the face. Perez was then transported by ambulance to Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City for further treatment, police said.
Presbyterian Hospital staff declined to release further information about the condition of the victim, and said they had no patient listed under the name Oscar Perez or Oscar Perez-Perdomo. Norman police confirmed the victim was still alive Sunday evening.
The suspect, whose identity is not yet known, fled the scene after the shooting, police said. Norman police did not have any further information to release about the gunman Sunday.
The incident remains under investigation, and police request that anyone with information about the incident call the Norman Police Department at 321-1600 or CrimeStoppers at 366-7867.
