Norman Rotarians became actors when the annual fruit sale drive was kicked off with their own musical version of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents: the Pink Panther Strikes Norman Rotary." The Norman Rotary Club called on a slew of fictional detectives to save the annual fruit sale, Dynah Korhummel, chair of the Fruit Sale said.

"Of course with the Pink Panther involved, it was Inspector Clouseau who solved the case," Korhummel said.

Rotarians will take orders for twenty and forty pound boxes of grapefruit and oranges priced a $20 and $30 respectively. Gift baskets of apples, oranges, grapefruits and nuts are $30 The fruit will arrive for pick up on Thursday and Friday December 4 and 5 at the Moore Norman Technology Center bus barn at 4701 12th Avenue NW.

"Place an order with a Rotarian or look for an order form in the newspaper. Orders may also be placed with Paul Wilson, 364-6137," Korhummel said.

"Proceeds from the Citrus Sale allow the Norman Rotary Club to make a difference in our local community," Korhummel said.

Funds from the sales will assist the Norman Rotary Club in making improvements and renovating the community building in Rotary Park. A new kitchen, restrooms and handicap accessibility are being constructed so local school and community groups are able to utilize the facility. In addition, proceeds also support the Norman Rotary's Community Projects Grant Program funding efforts of local non-profit agencies such as ABLE, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Meals on Wheels, Community After School Program, Safety Town and many others.

?The Norman Rotary Club, chartered on May 1, 1919, is Norman's oldest service organization. The club has a diverse membership of more than 160 business and community leaders. With their mission of "Service Above Self" Norman Rotary club members provide monetary and volunteer support to a number of local, national and international causes.
