Workshop for photo preservation set
Techniques for preserving and protecting family heirlooms is the subject of an adult workshop to be offered Nov. 13 at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History.
"Photographs: Preserve, Conserve and Store," scheduled 7 to 8:30 p.m., will be led by museum conservator Victoria Book, who will discuss different types of historical photographic techniques, including traditional silver and color prints as well as digital prints, and the specific conservation challenges of each type. Participants will learn do-it-yourself restoration techniques for silver prints, and the care and storage of all types of photos. Participants are asked to bring some sample photos of their own to the workshop.
Pre-registration is required and early registration is encouraged. The cost for the workshop is $25 per person. Museum members receive a discounted rate of $15 per person. To register, call the museum education department at 325-4712.
OU Professor gets teaching award
Richard Henry was recently named the Kinney-Sugg Outstanding Professor in the college.
As the 2008 outstanding professor of the college, Henry will receive a plaque and a check for $5,000 at a luncheon to be held in his honor later in the semester and his name will be added to a plaque on permanent display in Ellison Hall, home to the College of Arts and Sciences.
