Two Norman residents have been charged in federal court accused of committing a list of crimes, according to court papers.

Court records show Timothy DeClark, 30, and Kimberly E. Trudeau, 22, have been indicted in the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City.

The U.S. Attorney's office charged DeClark with conspiracy; production, possession and passing counterfeit checks; aiding and abetting; production of false identification documents; aggravated identity theft and felon in possession of a firearm, according to court papers. DeClark is in custody at the Grady County Jail in Chickasha. No bond amount has been set.

Trudeau was released on a $5,000 bond on Oct. 7, according to court records.

According to the indictment, the pair are accused of committing the crimes from January through Sept. 25 of this year. The objective was to "illegally obtain money from businesses by passing counterfeit checks."

"DeClark obtained personal identification information from victims by digging in trash or buying stolen mail," the indictment reads.

Prosecutors accuse DeClark of using computer software to produce counterfeit checks containing legitimate bank routing numbers and legitimate bank account numbers stolen from victims, according to the indictment.

"On September 7, 2009, DeClark passed a counterfeited check at a Wal-Mart in Edmond, Oklahoma," the indictment reads. "Trudeau returned merchandise purchased with the counterfeited checks in exchange for cash or gift cards."

DeClark and Trudeau face prison time if convicted of the crimes, according to the indictment.
