The beloved romance of Jane Austen adapted to the stage will open at the University of Oklahoma Friday.

OU, the School of Drama and University Theatre will present "Pride and Prejudice," adapted by Jon Jory, opening 8 p.m. in the Weitzenhoffer Theatre, 563 Elm Ave. The show will continue its run 8 p.m. Saturday and Nov. 20-22, and 3 p.m. Sunday and Nov. 23.

A classic English tale of romance, "Pride and Prejudice" is a young lady's journey of self-discovery and love in a world where manners and birth mean everything and reputation is worth its weight in gold.

The cast consists of School of Drama students Wes Aderhold, Mary Anthony, Nicholas Bartell, Lindsey Bliven, Amy Brown, Jonathan Contreras, Aimee Crowther, Cassidy Elms, Anna Fearheiley, Kourtney Kae, Anna Martinsen, Cody Mayo, Lindsey Newell, Mitchell Reid and School of Drama alumnus Tyrone Palmer.

Director is Dr. Judith Midyett Pender, dialect coach Rena Cook, choreographer Jeremy Lindberg, stage manager Hannah Barnes, dramaturg Matt Byrd, scenic designer Sarah Burnham, costume designer Christopher Harris, lighting designer Eric Stehl, sound designer Jonathan Payne and assistant dialect coach Amy Brown.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for seniors and OU faculty/staff and $12 for students with ID. Reservations can be made by calling the Fine Arts College Ticket Service at 325-4101, 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The box office is located in the Catlett Music Center, 500 W. Boyd St. For accommodations on the basis of a disability call 325-4101.
