In preparation for the upcoming Sooner Stage Presents production of the Broadway classic "Annie," The Sooner Theatre, 101 E. Main St., has announced auditions for the role of Annie's scruffy and loveable sidekick, Sandy, the dog.
Auditions will begin 6 p.m. today at The Sooner Theatre.
The show's director, Lisa Fox, is looking for an obedient mid-size dog with ash blond to medium brown long hair.
"We are looking for a dog with the right look," Fox said. "But equally important is the dog's ability to follow simple commands like sit, stay and come which will come from performers on stage."
During the audition the dog will be on stage with the actress playing Annie and will be asked to follow various simple commands.
The dog selected for the role will be needed the week of dress rehearsals as well as all performance dates. "Annie" performances begin the day after Thanksgiving and will be Nov. 28-30, Dec. 4-7 and Dec. 12-14. All shows begin at 8 p.m., except for the Sunday performances which begin at 2 p.m.
Owners interested in signing their dog up for an audition are asked to call The Sooner Theatre in advance at 321-9600.
