Published November 15, 2009 08:20 pm - Authorities Sunday night were continuing their investigation after a body was found inside the trunk of a burning car in east Norman. At 4:47 a.m. Sunday, Norman Communications received a 911 call reporting a car was on fire in the area of 144th Avenue NE and Indian Hills Road. NEW: Body found in trunk of burning car Transcript Staff Authorities Sunday night were continuing their investigation after a body was found inside the trunk of a burning car in east Norman.
At 4:47 a.m. Sunday, Norman Communications received a 911 call reporting a car was on fire in the area of 144th Avenue NE and Indian Hills Road. The Norman Fire Department, Norman Patrol and EMSStat immediately were dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival, officials found the burning vehicle. Once the fire was extinguished, a search of the vehicle revealed the body in the trunk. The Norman Police Investigations Bureau and the Norman Fire Department are investigating the death as a homicide, and the victim's identity has not been determined. The victim was released to the Medical Examiner's office. No further information was available at press time.
