4 R.E.A.L. stands for 4 Reaching Everyday American Lives. The program runs from January through March. It is open to high school freshmen, but is limited to 30 students.

The United Way of Norman is looking for a group of young leaders to join its 4 R.E.A.L. program.

4 R.E.A.L. stands for 4 Reaching Everyday American Lives. The program runs from January through March. It is open to high school freshmen, but is limited to 30 students.

4 R.E.A.L. is designed to prepare students for effective leadership in community service. The program selects applicants who demonstrate a commitment to addressing the social challenges of today's youth, a desire to develop leadership skills and an enthusiasm for volunteerism.

Applications are available at the offices of the counselors at Norman High School and Norman North High School. Students also can find an application online at www.unitedwaynorman.com.? The application deadline is Dec. 16.

The program costs $45 to offset the costs of meals, T-shirts and materials. Scholarships are available. Students should talk to their school counselor for more information.
