Published November 25, 2009 12:15 am - The University of Oklahoma's two museums, the Sam Noble Museum and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, will be open through the Thanksgiving weekend, with the exception of Thanksgiving Day. OU museums announce holiday hours Transcript Staff The University of Oklahoma's two museums, the Sam Noble Museum and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, will be open through the Thanksgiving weekend, with the exception of Thanksgiving Day.
Holiday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Both museums will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, located on the corner of Elm Avenue and Boyd Street, is offering free admission during Thanksgiving weekend, Friday through Sunday. In addition to the Weitzenhoffer Collection of French Impressionism, the museum currently has two new exhibitions on display that feature Oklahoma and New Mexico artists and contemporary photography. The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History is located at 2401 Chautauqua Avenue, within walking distance of the Lloyd Noble Center. Exhibits feature record-setting dinosaurs, archaeological and Native American cultural artifacts, and realistic dioramas of Oklahoma ecosystems. Regular admission rates for each museum are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for youth ages 6 to 17, and free for children ages 5 and under, and for OU students. The museums offer a reciprocal discount for those who visit both museums on the same day: bring your ticket or receipt from the first museum and show it when you purchase admission to the second to receive a $1 per ticket discount.
