A one vehicle crash in McClain County has claimed the life of a Byars teenager. The crash happened at 2:44 p.m. Friday on U.S. 77, 3/10 mile south of 170th Ave., according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The OHP reported 18-year-old Brittney Rogers died at the scene from massive trauma. Rogers was the only passenger in a 2007 Chevrolet pickup driven by Sara Folsom, 16, Wayne.
According to OHP reports, Folsom was driving southbound on the highway, lost control of the pickup and went off the right side of the road and struck a tree. It was raining when the wreck occurred, reports indicated.
Both teens were pinned inside the vehicle for about 30 minutes before they were freed by the Purcell Fire Department, the report stated. Both teenagers were wearing seat belts.
The OHP reported Folsom was transported from the scene to Norman Regional Hospital and later transferred to the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was admitted in critical condition with massive trauma.
As of Saturday afternoon, Folsom's condition had not changed, according to a trauma ICU nurse.
