NORMAN — Lauren Martina Heesemann and Dr. Adam Wesley Gibson, both of Manteo, N.C., exchanged wedding vows Oct. 13, 2013, at the historic Saint Andrews by the Sea Chapel in Nags Head, N.C., with the Rev. Phillip R. Glick officiating. Music was provided by David Spangler, church organist.
Parents of the bride are Cathy Heesemann, of Schenectady, N.Y., and Peter Heesemann of, Louisville, Ky. The bride attended South Oldham High School in Crestwood, Ky., and graduated from the College of Charleston in South Carolina, with a Bachelor of Science in marine biology. She received her master’s degree in natural resource management from Colorado State University and is now employed as the research coordinator for the Monitor National Marine Sanctuary for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
The groom is the son of Judy Gibson and the late Wesley Gibson of Norman. He is a graduate of Norman North High School in Norman. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in microbiology and zoology and from Colorado State University with a Ph.D. in natural resource management. He is employed as a social scientist by the Costal Studies Institute in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory, strapless gown of raw dupioni silk designed by Pronovias. It featured a ruched bodice and an antique pearl and jewel broach at the hip and a semi-cathedral length train with ties for a French bustle. She wore an ivory fingertip veil borrowed from her matron of honor and carried a hand-tied bouquet of French blue hydrangeas.
Serving as matron of honor was the bride’s best friend, Kristin Houston, of Louisville.
Bridesmaids were Shannon Jaskot, cousin of the bride, of Albany, N.Y., Abby Walker of Naples, Italy, Elise Annis of Augusta Ga., Erin Creznic, life-long friend, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Karen Lovin, of North Augusta, S.C.
The bridesmaids wore long, soft jersey V-neck dresses in navy blue, which featured a charmeuse ruffle that cascaded down the full-length skirt. Each carried a hand-tied bouquet of ivory hydrangeas.
Peak Rose Gibson, niece of the groom, served as flower girl and wore a ballerina-length ivory organza frock tied at the waist with navy satin.
Best men were brothers of the groom, Ryan Gibson, of San Diego, and Aaron Gibson, of Norman.
Groomsmen were Noah Boone, of Norman, Chris McRaven, of Woods Hole, Mass., Brett Heesemann, of Fort Collins, Colo., and Scott Heesemann, of Fayetteville, N.C.
Ring bearer was Summit Wesley Gibson, of Norman, nephew of the groom.
A personal tribute to the couple was offered by David Stack, of Catonsville, M.D., and a reading from the Song of Solomon was given by Katherine Simon.
The couple is at home in Manteo, N.C., on Roanoke Island in the Outer Banks.
